Correspondence, biographical information, speeches, subject files and other materials relating to Bumgardner's activities as both state and national officer of the League of Women Voters, and as member of the following state commissions: Civil Rights, Human Affairs, and Reorganization. Contains "A Simple Matter of Justice," Nov. 1977, a videotaped film of the International Women's Year Conference in Houston, Texas, including an interview with Bumgardner; videocassette, 26 Feb. 1978, of discussion with Mackie Quave, WOLO-TV, about ratification of Equal Rights Amendment; undated audio cassette (T68) featuring song "200 Years Too Long," commissioned and distributed by the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc., regarding the women's movement. Files, 1994-2004, document Barron's service on the Board of the Southern Regional Council, 1989-2004, as Secretary, Vice-Chair, and Nominating Committee Chair. Barron was nominated for a Life Fellows Award in 2004. Reports, strategic plans, and other documents describe efforts to define the mission of the SRC in the midst of changing demographics and competition for foundation and donor dollars. The collection also includes guidelines for the Lillian Smith Award and a history of the SRC, 1944-1994, "Next Steps to Democracy: The First Fifty Years of the Southern Regional Council," by Robert J. Norrell.
